One Host, Ten Probes: The C68 Redefines the Platform Approach
Sugia Vision Technology today announced the immediate availability of the OmniScope C68, a high-performance industrial videoscope platform that pairs an 8-inch IPS full-view HD touchscreen host with ten interchangeable insertion tubes spanning 0.95 mm to 8.0 mm in diameter and 1 m to 10 m in working length. The C68 is the first model in the OmniScope line to combine motorized 360° all-way articulation with a redundant touchscreen virtual joystick — a dual-control architecture designed so that a single host can cover inspection tasks that previously required multiple dedicated instruments.
The platform addresses a procurement reality familiar to every NDT manager: access-port diameters vary from sub-millimeter apertures in precision castings to 8 mm handholes in pressure vessels, and buying a complete videoscope for each is capital-inefficient. With the C68, the insertion tube — including its camera head, articulation section, and tungsten-wire wear-resistant braided sheath — is the only consumable. Camera resolutions of 160,000, 300,000, 1.0 million, and 2.0 million pixels are selectable per tube, with front-view, side-view, and dual-view optical configurations.
A 360 Degree Articulating Videoscope with Two Ways to Steer
The C68’s articulation system bends the probe tip ≥160° in any direction through a full 360° of rotation. Operators can steer with the electric control joystick on the handset — with fast/slow response and three speed levels in each mode — or switch to the on-screen virtual joystick when the handset is docked on its 180° rotatable stand. A probe coordinate display shows the current bending angle in real time, and motorized probe lock/release holds a set angle during documentation. As a joystick steering inspection camera, the C68 preserves the deliberate, repeatable positioning that Level III inspectors demand, while removing the wrist fatigue of purely mechanical cable steering during long survey sequences.
Connected, Documented, and Built for the Field
Every C68 host ships with built-in Bluetooth and WiFi modules, an HDMI output for simultaneous external display, and a LAN live-streaming function that lets colleagues view the real-time inspection image on their own phones by scanning a QR code. Storage expands from the standard 16 GB to 128 GB, with two USB 2.0 ports for direct offload to flash drives. The replaceable 10,000 mAh lithium battery sustains ≥4 hours of motorized operation (≥6 hours with the mechanical joystick configuration) and swaps in seconds — a full shift of work with one spare pack.
The insertion tube carries an IP67 rating for wet and contaminated environments, while the host is IP55-protected with four-corner TPU anti-collision cladding. System operating range is -20 °C to +60 °C, and the probe tip tolerates -25 °C to +100 °C with an optional over-temperature alarm — covering everything from cold-soaked airframes to post-shutdown turbine cavities. Total host weight including battery is 2.85 kg.
Optional Binocular Stereo 3D Measurement
For quantitative programs, the C68 premium configuration adds a binocular stereo imaging measurement system with nine methods — Length, Vertical, Depth, Multisegment, Area, Missing Corner, Sectional, Circle, and Gap — at 0.01 mm measurement resolution with error held to ≤5%. Defect sizing that once required a dedicated metrology platform is now available on the same interchangeable probe videoscope used for routine surveys.
